Orphanage in Peddapuram
    One island in the Bay of Bengal near Kakinada has been evangelized by one of our teams in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Our team was the first to bring the Gospel to these people. The whole attitude of the island people now is changing dramatically. Not only has a church been planted here, but also an orphanage has been started on the main land. This orphanage is home to some 48 young people between the ages of 5 and 11 from the island have been brought there to stay. The island children do not go to school because the people are so poor and cannot let them go even though public schools are subsidized in India. Due to storms that hit the island several years ago and the recent tsunami the children have been left homeless, parentless, and therefore live on whatever scraps and pieces that they can find amongst the villages. We are currently seeking our own plot of ground outside of the town of Peddapuram where we can build our own building with our own septic system and well. At present we have a rented building that we are using as our orphanage. The cost of developing our own complex will be about $50,000. At present we have $28,000 for this project and we believe that God would have us to move ahead with it. We still need $22,000 to complete this project. The church on the island is prospering. Many people are now becoming more open to the Gospel when they visibly see the love of God demonstrated in the new believers on the island and also in the care of these orphaned children. Please pray for the orphanage. The children at the orphanage attend school there and are taught the Word of God as a regular part of their curriculum. At least half of the children currently in the orphanage have trusted Christ as their personal Savior!
